Welcome To Purfect Sunday
Perfect Sunday was created to be a beauty, wellness, and lifestyle blog for women with chronic illnesses who want to live their most beautiful life.
It began as a place to write about some of the challenges that are a part of living with chronic illness. And as a place to share some tips and strategies I’ve learned that could hopefully make life a little easier.
I currently live in Los Angeles which is where I’ve called home for many years now. Growing up I was a true wild child. I come from a large family of 6 kids. And even though we were, by all means, poor, I enjoyed my days spent running barefoot and covered in dust through the Sierra Nevada Mountains. We lived in a tiny remote town under the shadows of the Giant Sequoias. However, once I turned 18, I was ready for change. I traded in that wild freedom for a pedicure and a pair of heels and made the move to LA. This is where I’ve happily made my life ever since.
Around my 28th birthday, my usual good health started to decline. After 4 years of fighting to feel normal again, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. An autoimmune disease in which your immune system attacks your thyroid. Since that time I’ve had to completely relearn how to eat, exercise, and take care of my body. As well as learn new ways to manage stress and make mental health a priority. This has taught me to have patience and compassion for myself, leaving me a big fan of self-care.
I now focus my time on taking care of my two younger children. The older two, my bonus babies, are all grown up. And I try and do my best at maintaining all aspects of my health. For me that looks like cooking healthy meals, maintaining a fitness routine, and spending quality time with friends. As well as enjoying quiet time in nature, I enjoy and endeavor to travel as much as time and my wallet allow me to. Although I don’t consider myself to be in any way ”girly” I am definitely a bit of a beauty junky. Sephora is one of my happy places, and I absolutely love trying out new makeup, hair, and skincare products.
What You Can Expect Here
Throughout the many highs and lows of life, I try to always think of life as an adventure. And adventures aren’t always fun or exciting. But there is always experience to be gained and lessons to be learned from them. So no matter how big the challenge or hard the lesson, I strive to find the positive. If possible I want to learn the lesson and gain something from the experience.
Purfect Sunday is where I come to share all of this with you while on my own journey. But even more than that, it has become a beautiful community of women who want to learn as well as share their own personal stories.
